Copay Reimbursement Program

The Copayment Reimbursement Program helps HUCTW members with their annual medical copayment costs if they reach above certain amounts. The program helps with copays for doctor’s appointments, hospital and ER visits, high tech imaging, and prescriptions. You are eligible for this program if you are an HUCTW staff member enrolled in a Harvard health plan, and if your copayments exceed the amounts (“copayment caps”) listed for your salary range.

Workplace Problem Solving

HUCTW and Harvard University are committed to solving workplace problems. We have found that it is highly effective to do this in a collaborative rather than adversarial way. Our negotiated joint problem-solving process is designed around this idea, and HUCTW representatives can also be available to help or advise a union member at any stage of the process. This section describes four stages of the Harvard-HUCTW Problem Solving Process.

Job Reclassification

Our jobs are changing constantly, sometimes gradually, sometimes rapidly. In order to keep up with these changes, job descriptions should be reviewed periodically to reflect current responsibilities. Whenever there have been substantive changes in a job’s content and responsibilities, which cause the job to appear inappropriately classified, a reclassification review should be initiated. These job reviews may be requested by a union member, a supervisor, or an HR officer at anytime. This section describes the steps involved in the HUCTW job reclassification process.

Work Security Program

Harvard and HUCTW agree that job elimination should not be common practice in departmental reorganizations, and every effort should be made to ensure the security of employment. In cases when the University does make layoff decisions, the Union and University have created the Work Security Program to help union members who are laid off from their Harvard jobs. The goal of the program is to reemploy laid-off staff into comparable jobs at the University. This section describes the pay, benefits, and assistance available to HUCTW members in the Work Security Program.
