We strongly recommend that all members plan for retirement, using
the resources available to us through Harvard.
Each person's decisions about retirement have to be based on the
individual's own circumstances, resources, and hopes for the future.
One option we urge you to consider is setting up a Tax-Deferred Annuity, or TDA
(the non-profit version of a 401k). There is detailed information on how
these work in the Retirement section of HARVie and you can sign up on-line at the Harvard
University Retirement Center (links below).
If you are hoping to retire soon, you can phone the University's Benefits
Services Group at 617-496-4001 to request a pension estimate and to make
an appointment to discuss options.
